When did you join Northwestern, and how long have you been in your current role?
I joined Northwestern in 2016 as the Administrative Assistant in Student Enrichment Services. I have been in my current role since February 2025.
Can you briefly describe your day-to-day job?
My day-to-day job mainly consists of completing projects that help FGLI students thrive at Northwestern. So, this takes me to a lot of areas on campus. I enjoy navigating the different areas of the University and creating solutions that students will feel in the immediate and long term.
How did you come to work in higher ed and in your role?
I learned about higher education during my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, where I studied Black World Studies. I joined the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP) for two years and knew this was the path I wanted to take. I was drawn to higher education because I wanted to improve the college experience for FGLI students like myself.
What do you most enjoy about your job and/or working for Northwestern?
I enjoy the people I have met at Northwestern. I have learned so much from watching the work others do and was able to engage in numerous professional development opportunities with or conducted by those people. Northwestern speaks to the learner in me and there is so much to soak up from the people who work here.
What is something fun or interesting about you that people may not know?
I’m the oldest of a set of fraternal twins, I’m six feet tall and I love reading novels, and watching movies and TV. This year, I started an Instagram account where I rate and review movies, books and TV shows. Additionally, I am from the South Side of Chicago and I carry that community with me.
